Vinnies Townsville Office

Good morning Magnetic Island pals; I just want to tell you all about my morning yesterday. (Tues) I had a shopping bag full of some old clothes & drove to Cook Street to drop them in the Vins Bins.
Only to find, to my horror, that the bins have gone.
OK, I'll just take them to the shop, and hand them over, and have a look around while I'm there. I arrive at 10.15 to find a meeting of staff just finishing. There is a sign on the door saying the shop will no longer take donations and to phone for a pickup. I ask one of the staff why the bins have been removed. I am told (quietly) that Townsville HO of Vinnies reports that our donations are not of 'good enough quality'.
I reply to this 'its an island of various economic people, not bloody Vaucluse in Sydney!' I then ask about this pickup system.
Apparently, the van that drops stuff off every second week to the Vins Shop will come & pick up donations from your house if you phone them to do so.
Lovely.
So I'd have to sit around waiting for them, rather than drop my donation to the shop or bin? My only fear is that people here will find it all too hard and put their old clothes into the rubbish & therefore into landfill. Bad decision Vinnies. I shall be onto their web page making a complaint.
